Event 9
The Mechanical Developments Championship
A good grid of over 20 riders and a misty start greeted race 1 event 9 on Saturday at Lydden. Ben Kingham had his Vincent assisted start, but soon found Rob Walker on the Big Bopper Velocette snapping at his heels. Rob then slowed, and eventually withdrew with machine troubles, and it was left to CRMC visitor Patrick Banfield (Trident) and Stacey Kilworth on one of his quick BK Triumphs to harry the leader, with Mike Annesley on the immaculate Laverda not far behind. And that’s how they finished. Race 13 in the afternoon was almost a repeat, except the lap times were the fastest of the weekend, and Mikes Laverda joined another 5 non finishers, while Graham Buller took his Norton twin into the 4th place instead.
